Pillowcase sack; handmade Thursday

This is really easy way to make a drawstring bag which is ideal for a Christmas sack.

I bought some red pillowcases, turned the top over and stitched it to make a channel for the drawstring - that's it!!

J for James; must do an A and a P next.
The applique was a little more difficult, but only because I had to be very careful not to sew the two sides of the bag together. I've chosen fabrics which are not specifically Christmassy so this bag can be useful all year round.

Mama made Monday - skulls and piranhas

Just made Anthony this t-shirt by chopping the image off an old adult's t-shirt and machine stitching onto a plain one.

And over the weekend James made himself a pencil case on the sewing machine - with a little bit of Mama help of course!

Nintendo crocheted star

I think I might get the hang of this crochet lark eventually!
James, my eldest son loves Mario so he is very pleased with this keyring I made for him today while he was poorly.
It was pretty simple, just lots of single crochets.
I used the pattern at  Ssh, I'm counting! and I attached the finished star to an old keyring thingy.

The star without the eyes would of course make a lovely Christmassy decoration...hmm...there's an idea!

Making stuff last!

Here is my eldest son James wearing his smart red dungarees back in 2005.
And here is Poppy five years later in the same fantastic dungarees.
(They had an airing in 2007 when Anthony wore them but I can't find a photo.)

It's made me think how I love hand me downs!

Knitted Mario beanie hat

This is a Christmas present for my eldest son, James. He is six and completely nintendo mad.
It was going to be a plain red hat, because red is his favourite colour.
But then, in a moment of madness I thought to myself, "perhaps I could try putting an M on it..."

So this is my first attempt at intarsia; not perfect by any means - the circle is rather hexagonal for a start!
