This is my Christmas present from my husband Mark.
A sewing machine - eek!
It seemed like a good idea at the the time, but last night I opened it and I'm a bit confuddled.
There are many mysterious bits.
It took me 90 minutes to thread the needle.
I did manage to stitch a 5 cm wonky line on a scrap of fabric eventually, but I may have to curtail my dreams of producing exquisitely beautiful items and practice on square, flat things for a while.
Lovely gift - you'll get the hang of it, then there'll be no stopping you xx
ReplyDeleteaah everything new is scary at first :-) At least you thread the needle, my Mum gave me her old sewing machine and I haven't even managed to thread the needle yet :-)
ReplyDeleteOooh, lovely present!! Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it! I can remember getting my first electric sewing machine. Prior to this, I'd used an old machine with a handle and loved it. The electric one went too fast for me and I was worried that I'd never get the hang of it, but I have and I love the speed and things that it can do. Have a play with it before you sit down to do anything serious, or make some things with simple seams, like lavender bags, to get you into the swing of how it feels. Exciting! Looking forward to seeing what you make!
ReplyDeleteHehe, I got a sewing machine from DH three years ago and am only just happy to sew straight lines with it in the past few months lol. And this year I have a spinning wheel which I just know is going to sit there for simply months before I feel brave enough to have a go...
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to learning along with you and seeing your makes.
