tea cup on canvas

More applique, this time one of my favourite things - a cup of tea :)
More fabric upcycled from my blouse, with some lovely linen cut from a man's shirt.
Very pretty and subtle, which is not generally how my work turns out!

I now have an etsy shop just here which is still rather amateur. It's still a work in progress though - I think I need a selection of interesting pieces of driftwood to photograph my items with!!

The 19p Tea Towel Challenge

My bestest friend and I visited Ikea, and we both bought one of their 19p Tekla tea towels. We are both sewing machine novices so we thought we could practise by making a very utilitarian item into something lovely.
I edged mine with some other Ikea fabric, and appliqued three heart motifs to match.
And then I made a matching tea cosy!

Easy tea bread

This is delicious, moist and chewy with lots of yummy fruit.

Pour 150ml boiling water onto 350g dried fruit and leave to stand for 30 minutes.
Beat 75g brown sugar and 1 egg into the fruit.
Sift in 175g self raising flour, and stir until combined.

Pour into a greased and lined loaf tin, level and sprinkle a tbsp of brown sugar on top.
Bake at 180 deg C for 50 minutes.

Eat sliced with a cup of tea.
